Inverter (do I need it?) AC to DC
« on: June 19, 2017, 12:24:06 PM »
I figured I could use it for testing but never once took it off the shelf. Before I get rid of it. Is there a reason I should keep it? Cleaning my shop (more intense than usual) keep? if so why?
Or make new friends on CL?  :groaner:

You know damn well that as soon as you get rid of it a need for it will arise.
My wife asked me why a carry a gun in the house. I said "decepticons", she laughed, I laughed and the toaster laughed.
I shot the toaster.

Could convert it to a battery charger?

Thanks guys, was just thinking I'm pretty sure I had a mullet when I got this so who knows if it still works? 25 years ago?
I'm getting rid of it. Tired of looking at it and I'm good on chargers.  thumbsup2
Getting better at tossing stuff.
Heck I got $200.00 for a old lawn tractor that was doomed to rot into the ground before I started restoring it. LOL

Just a note in passing.....  A CONVerter makes DC from AC - like a battery charger.   An INverter makes AC outta DC - like in an RV where you may need to get 110 AC to run your microwave from your (12 V DC) battery  (says the guy who is putting an INverter into his RV)

I would use the term, "rectifier" for AC-DC in something large and sophisticated, or simply "power supply".  We've got some pretty huge systems at work because of the old phone systems, big freestanding rectifiers that manage the batteries and a bunch of other stuff.
