Today at work I put the oil pan on  Nissan and assisted in two other repairs.   Got a new shift cable on the bike and fixed the rear brakes with new pads.  Got home and made wood ladder 2.0 to replace the one I already sold.

My pile of lumber recently dragged home if less than half now and will be reduced more soon.  I am going to build the top of my new workbench for the still not built shoppette.

Currently watching the news and the storms own the show.  Another 2.6 shaker under Mex City to add variety.   Never a dull moment here.

You have a blue tool chest and a blue middle chest?  :-\ :-\ :-\

I cant bring myself to paint them red.  They're too nice.  Notice the alien?

Painting those would ruin them. Some things are best left alone and those are a couple of those things!  beerdude

Went to local car show/flea market I try to get to every year. There is a vendor there, I usually buy something from him every year.

This year I grabbed some smaller bolt grip pullers and a brake spring tool. (Since forklifts are dumb and still use drum brakes)

Been meaning to build a step for the hot tub for awhile now.  I got to use up some of the left over lumber from building the shed.
Hot tub stores sell a simple wooden two level step for $199 or more and they're not even as well built.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm no carpenter.  This would take most people a couple of hours to make but it took me about 5 hours
from start to finish.  I shouldn't say finish because I gotta wait for it to dry and put on the grip tape.
I wasn't gonna add a railing but my balance is pretty bad and it it'll make it easier for me getting in and out of the tub.
Spent about 20 minutes after sweeping up and blowing out the saw dust.  I hate doing wood work in the garage.
I hope this Thompson's water seal works better than the stuff my wife used on the deck.  It's peeling already.

I'm just a guy in a garage with some tools...

Bruce.

You know what Bruce

It does not matter how long it took, you built it, gave you something to do, and time well spent form what i'm seeing.

Certainly is more interesting, than some of the other stuff that's posted...... It's fun to knock out projects that accumulate and enhance ones home environment.

Rock on

Bruce the steps look good.  As far as the Thompson's, it likely will never peel but it also likely won't last long.  If you keep on top of it by recoating every 6 months to a year, the wood won't turn grey.

Thanks Greg and Phil.

It is satisfying to get stuff done I didn't really wanna do without doing a half assed job.

Phil, I wonder if I sprayed a coat of clear over it would help...  Just worried it would also make it even more slippery when wet.
It'll have grip tape but still...
I sure don't feel like re-doing every year or sooner.

Thanks UB.
It's kind of a trade off though.  Have space or have a lot of cool machines and tools.

Bruce, can't answer your question.  One way to find out is to try it.  My experience with Thompson's goes back years ago when the guys who clean and seal decks all stated it was low quality and didn't last.  Has it changed, I don't know.  One rule I always go by even though I can be cheap is to always buy the the best paint or stain there is.  It normally is cheaper in the long run.

Did the work thing then got home to a quiet house.   We were doing the nightly routine when the power went down and...  After a long costly battle to stay online despite storms, outages and angry wife I still am online!
It can be done rather cheaply in hindsight.

Now enjoying a quiet house with all but me and the cats sleeping.

Sounds like around here.  Nice and quiet.  Just me and the kitties up.  Well, just me. The kitties are sleeping too.
