Oldsmobile Starfire wanted, model.
« on: October 14, 2017, 12:25:46 AM »
Want to buy a model, or realistic toy of a mid 70s Oldsmobile Starfire coupe.  Wife and I just passed 40 years together and a 75 Starfire was her first car, she bought it new.   We traded it off long ago, and would like to surprise her with a reasonable looking model.   This was the same thing as the Chevy Monza, and Buick Skyhawk, just different grilles.  Thought about getting a real car, but they seem kind of scarce, rust got most of them, and besides it is kinda small for us to use at our ages.   What you got?

Did you look on Fleabay?

Does the need justify the want ? Or does the want suffice?

Wrong side of the county, but a nice example. Seems like a dreamer price at $3500.

There is one in DesMoines Iowa but hasn't run in 30 years, can imagine what the brakes, fuel tank etc. are like, if it even runs.   To fly out and drive back a completely unknown car over the Northern Rockies  with winter coming on,  sounds like more adventure than I care to tackle.  I trailered a car from Wilmington NC back to Omaha ten years ago, another trip I have no desire to duplicate.  Been all over Ebay, even checking Tootsie Toys and Matchbox, and HotWheels, didn't see anything.  Knowing that a bunch of the folk here are collectors, hope there is a chance to find one.

Looks like the real thing is way easier to find than a model. I couldn't find one.
