Chopper 1 passing
« on: May 18, 2017, 02:27:10 PM »
From Garage Journal post

RIP, Fellow GJ Member and Friend chopper1

I'm saddened to pass this on, but with a heavy heart I'll say chopper1, (Mike P.) has passed. As I understand it now, it was a sudden loss on Wed. Those of us that knew him found out this morning. We know he was at a monthly gathering of retiree's from our company on Tuesday. All seemed fine. In fact my father had lunch with him the week before. Both of them, went to high school together, graduated together and spent the better part of 40 years working together at North American. I worked with Mike for many of those years, and also knew him from the car sceen and his involvement with the Choppers car club. Prayers for his wife and family in there time of mourning, and strength to get by...and the love filled memories of their Husband, Father,Chopper, friend & fellow GJ member.

When I hear more of the funeral details and arrangements I'll pass them along.

We'll see you in the Big Hot Rod Garage in the sky..... Godspeed.

Steve

Gang,

I think we are all at a loss here.  Chopper1 is/was one of the "Good Guys" thumbsup2 thumbsup2

I remember him from the pre-GG days over on the GJ.  Since 2010 chopper was an anchor here on the GJ; always had solid posts, a great attitude, and insightful things to offer.

I will miss him and his spirit :'(

Very sad to hear about Chopper's passing.  I got to meet Mike at his club's car show in April 2016. We had a nice long talk about cars, tools, and grandchildren (I had just found out that I was going to be a grandfather).  I went to the show again last month, but I didn't see him.  Really sorry that I missed him.  I'll be praying for him and his family.

The other picture. After racking my brain since yesterday (for someone who can't remember the Super Bowl winner or a previous meal), I thought it might have been an anniversary topic on the GJ.

Sure enough, the search function does work over there.  After combining his screen name and the correct words.

Nice picture with his wife and car, though sad at the same time.

On the passing of old friends, one gets to thinking about the things you once shared and talked about.   Also the things you always wanted to ask, and now may never get the answer for.  Do it while you can.

What?!  I just spoke with him about a month ago!!!!

Since joining this site, Mike has been awesome to me.  We've exchanged a few notes here and there in the mail, after I first bought a few ratchets from him about a year and a half ago.  It was unique that someone would do that with a nearly perfect stranger.

He was a pretty cool guy.
