That's a beefy looking machine  thumbsup2  should go pretty quick at that price.
Started with nothing and still have most of it left.

You gunna grab it?
There is a very fine line between a hobby and a mental illness.

Does the need justify the want ? Or does the want suffice?

No, I just blew a substantial chunk of change buying out a retiring friends machine shop contents, and really didn't have room for most of it. I'm in a tricky spot right now.

You going to part-out some of it?  I know this is picking at the corpse while it's still warm but if you have one the size of an elephant to deal with...

Probably not. It's mostly equipment to put my own business together. He's keeping a lot for a personal shop as well.

The only machines looking for homes are two cherry Bridgeports, and they may end up with me yet. He will be selling off 8+ cherry South Bend 9" lathes and 6 or 7 SB shapers in A+ condition.  There is a super nice Logan/Porter Cable shaper that needs to go too. All from his personal collection and far from give away prices. No shipping.

None of the machines mentioned that are going would be cheap, especially those Bridgeport's ! And every one named are highly desirable to the home shop guys. Well, for the shapers that audience would mainly be limited to old guys, or those that can appreciate what a shaper can do which most younger guys cannot. I hope those shapers all have vises for the buyers sake! Original, or quality replacement vises for 7" are either rare used, or costly new. That is a bitter lesson hard learned for the buyer of a bare machine.
You boys better hold on cause i'm gonna have to stand on it!

NEED A 1/2" BONNEY STREAMLINE COMBINATION AND ANY OVER 13/16" TOO!

They are all restored to factory shape with new parts where needed and a couple have been completely rescraped in (not salesman flaked on the ways). About half have factory stands and vises. There are also 2 sets of SB indexing centers and several 4" rotary tables, but I think hell keep them as they cost more than the shapers alone. Average price will be about $2500 ea. A couple without stands already went to new homes at $2k each. Lathes are the same. All model A's, mostly 4' beds, about half have taper attachments.

The BP mills are actually a hard sell these days locally. They should be worth $6-7500 ea, but he'll be lucky to get 4-5k. Everybody wants a cnc machining center.

Funny this got bumped. I had zero intention of getting the two BP mills last month, but he chipped away at me and I'm gonna lay the coin down on them for a fair package price. It's too convenient of an opportunity to pass up.
