Pay it forward thread
« on: April 29, 2014, 03:18:48 PM »
There is a thread on Tool Talk that I really like started by JessEm called Pay it back.
http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?topic=9125.0
You post up a tool for the taking and the first response saying they want it gets it. Then you post up one yourself.
I think this is a really good idea and I'd like to import it to this thread with thanks to JessEm for the idea.
So I`ll start

One more thing keep the items cool as this will die if the items are junk. And a good idea from Papa it there is no takers after 5 days the giver picks another item. If we keep the items cool this wont happen though.

A nice Thorsen 1/4 ratchet.

There is a very fine line between a hobby and a mental illness.

Does the need justify the want ? Or does the want suffice?

It is very popular on Tool Talk. There was a slow period, but since it gained steam, it is doing well.
I suggest that if an offering doesn't get claimed in a set length of time, the giver picks something to substitute.

My word Jabberwoki, you don't hold back with your generosity do you?

With full disclosure, despite my interest with older Thorsen items, I am not certain of the date on that, but given how the t appears to be, I get the feeling that was made several decades ago.

I think I may have a Thorsen ratchet of that era that I acquired last year.

I wish I had something to contribute, but right now I don't really have anything I don't really need or want to give away.

Really, some of the most generous people seem to be members here.

;D   The 'random unsuspected gift' package  is part of this forum from nearly the beginning.   This is just a slightly more structured version of that.   Add in the monthly giveaway and the additional random giveaways this has been by far the most generous crew I've ever met.

And even with a new new faces and the loss of a few others this young tradition continues.   This is why I like this forum the best of all I've played on.

sharepopcorn    This "pay it forward" thing will be fun to watch as it goes along.

Neat idea - I hope it flies.  thumbsup2

Really not the same kinda thing, but I thought I'd throw this out there. I sent a Penncraft socket to a guy on the GJ who PM'd me looking for one a few weeks ago - Priority Mail, no charge to him.

Never got so much as a "thank you."  confusedx  Really?!

He's an asshole. Simple as that.
I'd like to say they are only over there but they are everywhere.

Continue to be a good guy and ignore the assholes.

Don't let them drag you down to their level... don't let anyone drag you down or grind your gears! Don't even let anyone grind your coffee grounds down!
I'm just a guy in a garage with some tools...

Bruce.
