Danaher no longer to make Kobalt tools
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:22:20 AM »
I had read from another forum that Lowe's Kobalt tools like sockets, ratchets and wrenches are no longer going to be made by Danaher. I have a lot of them and nobody knows who the new manufactor is or even if this is true. Has anybody else heard of this?

Never heard about this, but will try to find out.

Who has the capacity to supply Lowes? I would think that if not Danaher, than Stanley.

Maybe Lowe's is going to go straight to Chinese manufacturers?

I heard they narrowed down the new manufacturer between Snap-On and Duralast, they're both similar quality* so they can't go wrong.

They used to Williams USA made tools, unfortunately Williams have gone import for a lot of their stuff (makes me ill) so if they go back to Williams which would seem great might not be good at all.

I have no trust in Kobalt anymore.

After their holiday season "Multi-Drive Wrench" experience, I don't trust that they're trying to make quality tools. It looks like they're more trying to sell tools and tool-like objects.

Guy 1 on GJ overhears a conversation in a lowes store, sees one part of that conversation using a blackberry.
Guy  2 reports here he "read a post" on another forum and wanted to report it here.

Neither guy made an introduction so we might have a clue to who or what he is.

Houston, we have a disconnect, if he wrote both, they should be the same about overhearing it.  It looks like an effort to legitimize the GJ post, which isn't going over too well right  about now.

Either way its about import tools and manufacturers nobody here raves about.  Some of  us use them but do not rave about them.
Rusty says it best in his signature line.  (which I pirated because I like it)

What difference is it if he posts both places? What if he just searched "tool forums" to get a question answered. I think you are reading too much into this guy, maybe he just wants an answer? I dint know this forum existed till mid January, I didn’t know about GJ till July of last year. I didn’t know about rusty’s forum until yesterday. I joined all of them.

If the guy is up to something then oh well.
